At Towers Elite Pest Control, we understand how frustrating and stressful it can be to deal with an ant infestation. That's why we are committed to providing fast, efficient, and reliable pest control services to our clients. Ants have the largest population of any species on Earth. It is to no surprise that you see ants often when you are outdoors when you consider that there is an estimated 2.5 million ants to every human on the planet. Although there are thousands of species of ants, there are primarily only six that you will come across in South Jersey, including:
Little black ants, when mature, are dark brown/black and grow to 1/16 of an inch. These ants are small and can easily invade your home through small openings around windows and doors in search of food or water.
Pavement ants are dark brown and black, with their legs being a lighter color and growing to about 1/8 of an inch. They will invade areas made of concrete including bricks and hardscaping patios. They will sting when feeling threatened.
Argentine ants are dark brown in color and grow to be 1/16 to 1/4 of an inch. These ants grow massive nests and prefer to eat sweet foods. Another way to identify them is that they give off a musty odor when crushed.
Pharaoh ants are yellow to dark red in color and grow to be up to 1/6 of an inch in length. Once they invade buildings they are apable to of thriving year round due to the comfort of the heated building.
Odorous house ants are dark brown to black in color and grow up to 1/16 of an inch long. They prefer to eat sweets and melons and when crushed give off a very strong, rotten coconut scent.
Carpenter ants are black and are by far the largest of all of the ants growing up to a 1/2 inch in length. They build their nest and tunnels inside moist decaying wood, sometimes on the exterior of your home, weakening the structure over time.
Ants live primarily in nests that they build underground, in trees, wood structures, or mounds that are above ground. In these nests, there are queens and worker ants; worker ants are typically the ants that you see. Worker ants are responsible for building the nest, finding the food and water, as well as taking are of the queens and babies.
Ants are unique because they have the capability of leaving a pheromone trail on their path to food or water that the rest of their nest can easily follow. That is often why once you find one ant, you will most likely find many more soon after.
Although ants seem pretty harmless, the main problem with them is that they can potentially contaminate food and can potentially sting or bite you.
Ant treatments have the goal of ensuring that your home is fortified against them. We will fill and fix the gaps and openings that the ants are currently coming into your house through. Then we will treat the exterior your home and interior where necessary, primarily focusing on the locations that the ants are currently being found. One common misconception of ant treatments is that the customer believes we will get rid of all of our ants outside their home. Unfortunately, this is nearly impossible due to the facts that ants are always moving and there are most likely more than just the nests that we are able to find. Rather, our goal is to ensure that your home is well-sealed to keep these small insects outside, rather than in. Ant issues are often reoccurring so a maintenance treatment plan is usually recommended.
Ant treatments usually consist of crack and crevice treatments, spot treatments, baits, and exterior foundation treatments.

The best way to get rid of ants is to eliminate their entry points, keep your property and home free of debris and food sources, remove known nesting sites, using any types of ant baits, and we recommend contacting your local exterminators to come out and help your keep your home ant free.
Ants are attracted to warm, safe places that they are able to build their nest; preferably near food sources and moisture. Their preferred food sources are sap, plants, other insects, and unfortunately, all human foods.
