About Cockroaches
Cockroaches are a major concern, no matter where they are found. They are known to be capable of spreading diseases such as salmonella, e. coli, dysentery, and more. They spread diseases primarily through contaminating food or food preparation areas, just by walking in these areas or leaving droppings in these areas. Cockroaches are also known to cause an increase in allergies and asthma due to their droppings and shed skin being breathed in. There are two common cockroach species that you might come across in South Jersey.

American cockroaches typically live outside and only come indoors while foraging for food and water. You will often see them in gardens and mulch beds as that is where they live for the most part.

German cockroaches are by far the most common species that become problems. They prefer to live indoors, preferably in kitchens or bathrooms, where it is moist and there is easy access to food and water.
